Glamorous Green Business for the Lazy

Being green isn't all about vegetable peelings and electricity deprivation, there are more glamorous, stylish ways to be green and make your business more efficient.

How do you get to work? Do you cruise around London in your 4x4, spurting nasty fumes into your office window? No, you wave down a greentomatocar. Greentomatocars are a cab firm operating in London with a fleet of Toyota Prius', the world's most popular hybrid car. By allowing greentomatocars to chauffeur you to the office, not only will you be taking your own gas guzzler off the road, you will be cutting carbon dioxide by 50% and saving yourself a few pennies by dodging the Congestion Charge. With greentomatocars' low environmental impact and cost, your journey to work could be a lot more ecological and economical.

So you are now at the office, but what greets you when you open the door? Piles of energy bills ready to cipher away your hard-earned profits. Avoid the soaring costs of fossil fuels by generating your own electricity. You don't need acres of farmland or a roof the size of Terminal 5, green electricity is now an option for buildings of any size. Simply buy yourself a lovely wind turbine and make yourself some very valuable sustainable power. If you do have the luxury of space, become an electricity entrepreneur by purchasing a bigger turbine and selling energy back to the grid. Not only can you save money (and the world, of course) by generating your own electricity, you can make money too, now there is a business proposition that you can't decline.

You have overcome the first office obstacle but you now meet a sea of rubbish. With good intentions, your dear employees have saved every bit of scrap paper, bottle and can for the last three months to recycle - despite the fact your company has no system. Your colleagues passionately protest when they see you reach for the black bin bag and you plead for a viable alternative from the office eco-enthusiasts. Look no further than the Ecopod, your personal centre. This green machine crushes cans and plastic bottles for optimised storage space and provides extra compartments for other recyclable items such as newspapers and glass. When full up, you remove the portable container and put it out for collection or take it to a depot. Investing in one of these would save you space, please the tree huggers and make easy and convenient.

Now you have acquired the Ecopod, it must be put to good use. For your lazier employees who don't believe in recycling, issue them with an eco-punishment. Get the eco-criminal to text "WLT CARBON" to 87050 and the World Land Trust will offset 140 kilograms of CO2 by regenerating through their Carbon Balanced Program. The message costs £1.50 plus the standard network rate. If you are employing someone who is too lazy to even send a text message, pop them in the Ecopod along with all other office waste.

You've spent all day creating your eco-office and realise that you are late for dinner - again. Better get the wife a fabulous green gift to avoid a fate similar to your lazy employee. Ecoist's candy wrapper are made from surplus sweet and fizzy drinks labels, woven together to make a colourful fashion accessory. Ethical and eco, these provide a living for people in Central America who make the , use materials that would otherwise end up in landfill and, as if Ecoist couldn't be greener, they plant a tree for every bag sold, so every one is happy - including your wife, for once!
