Exposed brickwork?
Posted at: 2009-09-25 15:58:18
Hmm. That’s helpful, thanks.
Just realised that I posted this in the wrong section- should have put in the ’insulation’ section, but it’s still energy related I guess.

Exposed brickwork?
Posted at: 2009-09-25 15:48:06
What would the energy efficiency be like on a home with exposed brick work in main living areas?

It can look really nice but I’m not sure how insulated it would be.

Many thanks

Oh, I found this eco-tourism journal linked from the site as well. Essential reading for anyone interested in eco-tourism. Thanks again for the great link.

Thanks for this link… Really great site.. I found some great resources linked from it.

For instance I found a very good definition of ’eco-tourism’ as opposed to ’sustainable tourism’ (http://www.etc-corporate.org/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=107). For those who are unclear as to the distinction, as I was, this definition says that eco-tourism is generally tourist travel to natural areas, often to appreciate the fauna conserves the environment there and benefits the local people. So, often, eco-tourism involves work to help with the indigenous environment, and/or a learning experience for the tourist.

Sustainable tourism on the other hand isn’t a specific form of tourism like this. It’s just a general concept that can be applied to any form of tourism, be it sports, adventure, cultural tourism, etc.

Recycling business material vs using less material

I agree completely.
I have seen many businesses signing their emails with ’please don’t print this if necessary’, etc, which is great. Plus companies that try not to send out paper letters and notifications, using the phone, or email, instead, to communicate.
This is the positive approach to cutting down on unneccessary paper use and siwtching to new modes of communication- modes which, let’s face it, aren’t exactly that new!

Which is not to say that I think paper use should be eradicated completely! I prefer physical books, to ’e-books’, for instance.

I’m talking about daily communication and so on.

Can you plant your own tree?

Guerilla gardening?

Don’t know if you could guarantee it would live in peace and good growth for it’s life..
Unless it was really out in the wild where it wouldn’t be disturbed

In a national park though it might be spotted!

Printing- toner

Hi. Have a look at http://www.urefill.co.uk/. You can buy the kit that you speak of, and the refills of different brands of toner.. have a look. I think most brands and printer models are represented..

Speeds

I think it is silly going fast on a moped anyway. If you want speed you should use a motorbike. Most mopeds I have been on, on holiday etc have not been amazingly fast but that suited the vehicle. It feels fast anyway, being in the wind and feeling the speed against your skin.
But this is just my personal opinion.
Old bulbs- throw them, or use them?

Myself, I would store them in your home. For the mean time, keep them for emergencies.

But my advice is not very informed, I admit.
