Looks interesting. Not that I know much about car fleets! It looks like it be a help when combined with other green technology. Although maybe they’re exaggerating the green potential of this a little? |

Eco lodge…huh?

Wiki just describes it as being another word for a hotel-
I always thought of a lodge as a hotel in rural/wilderness/mountain surroundings. |

Summer heat wave- how are your thermal panels doing?

My water’s been hot pretty much all of the time. Got a really efficient bioler too so it keeps all the heat in. Never had to override with the boiler. Which makes me feel good. Even on days when there’s cloudier, cooler weather for the later part of the day, but it’s bright in the morning, it works out well as I wash in the morning and get on with stuff in the day. It creates a nice natural balance between my habits and the weather and climate. |

£20 bin from Waltham Forest Council

Where’s that, England? That’s a really great deal.
Try putting a piece of rug into the lid as well! |

Glue.. green glue for house? Garage?

Cocoina adhesive. It’s been used in Italy, in schools, since the 1930s apparently. One of those products that’s really old fashioned, showing how sustainable products have been around longer than one might think!
It smells of almond and has a stiff brush that comes with it. Non-toxic, non-solvent, acid free, best for crafts, paper, scrapbooks, mounting, photos, do a google search for stockists, it looks really good.. |

Give me the bin!!!

This so annoying. We are supposed to have two bins for recycling where I live- but one of them went missing months ago, so I can’t recycle glass and tin from my home- I’ve ordered a new one– TWICE!! Damnit. So annoyed. And there’s no neighbourhood recycling facility nearby.
Sorry for the rant…

What kind of water-butt do you use

I just use a thin-ish green one, one a green stand. Just a basic plastic barrel type. I got a drain pipe coming from the gutter on my roof. |

Don’t use compost from the council! It’s no good

Don’t bother using the compost that you can buy at recycling centres- the stuff that’s been made from household waste and sent to the recycling facility– it doesn’t have any nutrients in it, and isn’t really effective. It’s not even real compost, and it’ll say ’soil improver’ on the side.
If you think about it, real compost needs to have the right ingredients and be cared for in very proper ways. When people chuck away their food waste indiscriminately into the recycling bin, they aren’t doing this!
Apparently it is OK to use to give structure to your soil, or to bulk it up. But don’t get the wrong idea and think that you can grow vegetables in it, or that there’s any nutrients inside! |

Soya Milk- is soya production harmful to environment??

I’m a vegetarian and also don’t drink animal milk for ethical reasons. So I’ve happily been purchasing soya milk for years now.
I’ve heard damaging things though from friends, about the impact that soya farming has on forests and natural land.
Please, could anyone enlighten me as to whether I should stop buying this stuff? Or whether some brands are more ethical then others?
Or perhaps alternatives to soya that are defenitely OK to buy? |
