Retro-fitting such a large building to be greener is a great sign. Aside from the turbine and garden idea, the conversion of the inner mechanics of the building signifies great commitment and vision. A building of this age (1973- designed by Chicago architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill) can’t be easy to convert.

Says that it sticks wood, stone, metal, tile, glass.
With plastic bottles, the bottles are washed at quite a late stage- first they are collected, separated from non-plastics, squashed into bales, sold to reprocessing plants, then sorted into different plastics, chopped into flakes, and *then* washed and decontaminated.
